Chorus brings Disney to life
The annual children’s Disney chorus concert was Saturday, October 17. Featuring songs from classic movies such as Cinderella and The Lion King, and from newer hits like Frozen and Tangled. Chorus members were dressed as various iconic characters, and many young members of the audience were also in costume.
“I enjoy the show so much because you get to make everyone’s day brighter,” senior Kayley Manarchuck said, “And I love seeing people, especially the little kids, smiling.”
This show featured a variety of favorite songs like “A Whole New World”, performed by senior Kristen Chase, and “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes”, performed by senior Nicki Caswell. Sixth graders from local elementary schools helped with the show, and performed “Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride” from Lilo and Stitch with help from the LB Chorus. At the end of the show, some of the chorus members who are dressed up take pictures and sign autographs for the kids in attendance.
“This year was awesome because I got to pose for pictures and sign autographs for the kids as Anna,” Manarchuck said. “I called them all little princesses, which made them smile even bigger.”
Manarchuck was Anna from the smash-hit Frozen, which was heavily featured in the show. The men all performed the opening song “Frozen Heart”, and the women sang “For First Time in Forever”. Senior Jacob Hyde performed “Love is an Open Door” as a duet with Manarchuck, while junior Erin Coughlan sang the hit song “Let it Go”.
“This year my favorite song to perform was “Love is an Open Door” since it was my duet and Jacob is so fun to work with,” Manarchuck said. “But my favorite company numbers are “When you Wish upon a Star” and “All in this Together” because the whole choir gets extremely into it and they are both crowd pleasers.”
