It’s the winter season again and Trader Joe’s is back on their peppermint game. They’re proud to present the next installment of peppermint monstrosities: Pretzels. Specifically Pretzel Slims.

What are Peppermint Pretzel Slims? Well, I’m glad you asked. It’s exactly what the bag says: pretzels that are lightly covered in a layer of “candy coating” and dusted with colorful peppermint sprinkles. These pretzels are easy, light, and taste delicious, perfect for a winter afternoon snack. 

The bag is easy to open and seal, so you’re able to close them and walk away just to be able to open them a few minutes later. It’s the perfect size for reaching in and not having to knock against your neighbor’s hand who’s also reaching in at the same time. 

The scent of the pretzels is a mix of both sweet and salty, and its texture is consistently smooth. However, you are likely to run across some of the layered peppermint chunks that are either disproportionately placed or left out of the pretzel entirely. 

The pretzel itself is a quick snack that doesn’t melt on the tongue, but simply sits in your mouth. The flavors are a nice mix of pretzel and peppermint, sticking to their title quite nicely. It’s a small snack that’s great to share with friends. Its saltiness provides the perfect compliment to the sweet outer shell. The only thing that is less than ideal about these pretzels is that the taste disappears quickly after you consume them.

Overall, Trader Joe’s has added another peppermint flavored snack to their shelves, and though it’s colored and shaped like every other mediocre bag of pretzels that parents bring to their kids’ parties, they definitely deliver what they promise. We rate the Peppermint Pretzel Slims 7/10.
