The varsity football team faces the rival Robinson Rams tonight at Robinson.

Last year, Robinson defeated LB 17-19 at LB.

“We still have a bad taste in our mouth from last year, and there’s definitely a lot of disrespect coming from them,” senior Johan Marin said. “We really just want to beat them.”

The Rams are 1-1 in the regular season, losing by a touchdown to the West Springfield Spartans 35-28 and shutting out the Woodson Cavaliers 56-0.

The long-standing rivalry between the Bruins and Rams has led to disrespectful comments on social media by students from both schools.

“[The tweets] don’t matter; we’ll let them say what they have to say,” senior defensive lineman Kamron Abolfotouh said. “We know what we have to do, and we’ll let the scoreboard do the talking.”

Twitter is teeming with hashtags such as “#BeatRobinson,” “#RamRoast” and “#BEATROBO” as the whole school prepares for what could be the game of the season.

“The rivalry ebbs and flows, so to speak, based on how each team is doing,” varsity coach Jim Poythress said. “As far as I’m concerned, it’s just another game on the schedule.”

The game starts tonight at 7 p.m. at Robinson, and tickets are $5.
