The varsity boys basketball team had a strong winter season when compared to their previous season, with the addition of Coach Brian Metress. Their record for the season is 13 wins to 13 losses and they are 4th in the region with eight wins to six losses. The team has shown more success when competing in home games, as their home game record is five wins to four losses. The team has struggled when competing in away games with their record being five wins to seven losses.
The varsity team won their first game of the district tournament against Robinson at home on Feb 18 at 7:00pm, but was eliminated in their next game against Woodson. They made it into the second round of the regional tournament, but were eliminated by Hayfield, a team that has seen multiple state championships within the past decade.
This season is a major improvement from the previous season when their record was three wins to 20 losses. They have climbed up 168 positions in Virginia and 24 positions in the state division rank. They also have faced major success in DMA rank as they climbed up 118 positions from 279th rank to the 99th rank.
