The girls varsity Basketball team has had a challenging season, holding a current 4-19 record, but this team has shown a lot of determination and growth along the way. One of their highlights was an improvement late in the season, where they secured back to back wins against Alexandria City (46-38), Westfield (47-40), and Fairfax (48,43).
Senior Emily Depaul has been a star player throughout the season and played a key role in these victories, leading the team with a career high 18 points against Westfield. Her strong performances led her to earn Honorable Mention All-District and All-Defense team honors.
The Bruins season came to an end in the district playoffs with a 38-44 loss against West Springfield. While this wasn’t the outcome they had hoped for, the team had shown a lot of improvement and determination. Despite the challenges, the varsity girls made a big improvement in their defense and teamwork, and stayed very competitive in several close games. While this season was a learning experience, the Bruins have built a foundation for the future and will look to come back even stronger next year.
